The SlutWalkers have spoken! 04/11/2011
THANK YOU to all participants and event organizers that made the first-ever Ottawa SlutWalk a huge success! Ottawans of all ages and genders came out to support a woman's right to wear what she wants. Our message was loud and clear: "However I dress, wherever I go, YES means YES and NO means NO!" Check out the media coverage and pictures at the links below. We'll have our own pictures up on the website soon, so stay tuned! And if I've missed any links, feel free to let me know in the comments so that we can add to the list. This event was awesome, and it never would have happened without the dedication of a single person who cares. An enormous thanks to Emily Griffiths, who, in a matter of weeks, turned a simple Facebook event posting into a thousand-strong (by some estimates) collective of supporters of women's sexual freedom. Huge thanks as well to the University of Ottawa Women's Resource Centre and Jer's Vision for their administrative and financial help in putting this together, and to all the speakers who shared their stories. Together, ladies and gentlemen, we made this happen. Together, we spoke out against victim-blaming and the system that tells assault survivors that it's all their fault. And together, we said WE'VE HAD ENOUGH! Thank you! Nicole Chatelain WIN General Director Comments09/22/2011 23:17
